The Wrona Law Firm announced today the addition of veteran attorney and entrepreneurial business leader, Todd Wakefield.

PARK CITY, UTAH
May 10, 2010.
The Wrona Law Firm, headquartered in Park City, announced today the addition of veteran attorney and entrepreneurial business leader, Todd Wakefield, to its team of attorneys. Having served in recent years as CEO of two different venture-backed technology startup companies, Mr. Wakefield is returning to the practice of law in the firm’s Park City office where he will focus on civil litigation, real estate, and advising growing businesses.

“Todd is a versatile and talented lawyer who shares the firm’s commitment to excellence in serving our clients,” said the firm’s founder and managing partner, Joe Wrona. “He has earned a strong reputation as both a lawyer and entrepreneur, and his ability to seamlessly manage legal issues in the context of business realities will serve our clients well.  I have known Todd for 18 years now, and I consider him a perfect compliment to our team.”

A resident of Park City since 1984, Wakefield comes to the firm with more than 20 years of both legal and business experience. He began his legal career on Main Street in Park City in 1992, focusing on complex litigation and ski resort defense work. He also served for 5 years as general counsel to USSA and the United States Ski and Snowboard Teams, and he continues to serve USSA as Chairman of the organization’s Judicial Committee.

In early 2000, Wakefield stepped away from the practice of law to co-found and manage Attensity Corporation, a software company that was funded by the investment arm of the CIA, but whose customers included names like Whirlpool, John Deere and JetBlue. As co-inventor of Attensity’s technology, he was awarded 6 different U.S. patents. He also was named one of the top 50 startup executives worldwide in 2006 by readers of Fast Company magazine. Wakefield subsequently went on to found NexTalk, Inc., a company that provides telecommunications technology for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.

“Although starting and running companies was a great experience, the law has always been my true passion,” said Wakefield. “I’m thrilled by this opportunity to return to the profession I love, in my hometown, with colleagues who are absolutely committed to being the best at what they do.  Joe Wrona and I have teamed up many times over the years on various business and legal issues, and it is great to be working together again.”
