Background: Mr. Wakefield clerked for the Criminal Appeals Division of the Utah Attorney General's Office, and as a law clerk to the Honorable Regnal W. Garff of the Utah Court of Appeals. After graduating from the University of Utah College of Law, Mr. Wakefield joined the law firm of Strachan & Strachan in Park City, Utah where he focused on complex litigation, ski resort and recreation industry defense, real estate and land development. Through his ski industry work, he eventually became outside General Counsel to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association and U.S. Ski Team - where he now serves as Chairman of USSA's Judicial Commission. From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Wakefield was the owner of his own law practice in Park City representing clients in a variety of business and real estate matters. Prior to joining Wrona Law, he was Of Counsel with the law firm of Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough.
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Wakefield served as President and CEO of Attensity Corporation (www.attensity.com) where he helped pioneer the enterprise software category known as "text analytics." He holds six U.S. Patents in the field, and his technology is now used widely by the U.S. Government intelligence community and Fortune 500 companies. Subsequently, Mr. Wakefield served as President and CEO of NexTalk, Inc. Another venture-backed startup providing communications technology for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. In 2006, Mr. Wakefield was named one of 50 worldwide Reader Favorites in Fast Company magazine's Fast 50 Global Readers' Challenge. Currently, he is a Venture Partner for The Entrepreneurs Fund, a venture capital fund in San Mateo, California.
Mr. Wakefield resides in Park City with his wife of 20 years and four children. Outside of the office, he enjoys running, skiing, listening to jazz, and tinkering at the piano, keyboards, guitar and flute. |
